"If you don't like the sea... and don't care for the mountains... and don't like the big city either... go hang yourself!"

In case I haven't yet personally rubbed it in your face, I'm going to study abroad in Florence next semester. Your preferable reaction to this news is jealousy.
The day until my departure from Big D is growing ever-nearer. Tomorrow is my last day at my current place of employment, after which I will have 2 weeks in which to wildly prepare, pack, unpack, re-pack, re-un-pack, and repeat. So far the only things I've done to prepare are get my visa and a haircut (pictures to be posted later). I'm working on a list of things to do before I leave; so far I've got:
  1. Purchase necessary sundries
  2. Find a suitcase
  3. Pack said suitcase with necessary sundries
  4. Get a gift for my host family
  5. Gather important documents/ insure that I have all important documents
  6. Whiten teeth (I can't travel internationally with a less-than-dazzling smile)
  7. Procure/assemble a travel journal
  8. Find European-compatible chargers for my camera and computer
If you have any advice on how can accomplish any of these things or if you can think of anything I'm missing, please tell me!

Oh Katie Katie Katie...

As a mother of a world traveler I have 3 words for you when it comes to getting stuff to travel the world with: THE CONTAINER STORE

And yes the travel size duck tape is a necessity...
